The company’s history extends back to the beginning of the 20th century when the founder, Salvatore Ferragamo, together with four other Italians emigrated from a tiny village in southern Italy to the United States, where he went on to establish a global reputation for the hand-made shoes he crafted for the stars of the burgeoning film industry in Hollywood. After returning to Italy in 1927, Salvatore set up shop in Florence and built up Ferragamo into a coveted brand, transforming his dream of a company into reality. This same company now produces more than 350 pairs of shoes every day and employs over 750 shoemakers.
